The laboratory you work for has discovered an organism called E. hugdahlis that uses several reactions not found in the typical glycolysis pathway (reaction 1, reaction 2, and reaction 3 on the figure below). Only the three specified reactions utilize new enzymes, all other reactions utilize identical enzymes to typical glycolysis and alcohol fermentation. 5 ATPs are produced because all the reaction are same except the 1,2 and 3. And typical anaerobic reaction produces 2 ATPs but here the reaction 1produces an extra NADH and that produces 3 ATPs from the non oxygen carrier. So total of the 5 ATPs are produced.
