Question

When you start with a new slide, which objective lens should you use first? A) 4X B) 10X C) 40X D) 100X Which of the following objective lens has the largest field of view? A) 4X B) 10X C) 40X D) 100X Which of the following objective lens has the depth of field? A) 4X B)10X C)40X D)100X Which of the following is the largest? A) Centimeter B) Millimeter C) Micrometer D) Nanometer Name the piece of lab equipment that is used to measure liquids in microliters A) Ruler B) micrometer C) beaker D) micropipette The curved surface of a liquid in a beaker is called the___________ a) Milliliter B) Micron C) Meniscus D) Micrometer

Explanation / Answer

Microscope is made by different lenses kept in such a way that it magnifies image. It contain objective lens (near to object which would be magnified) and eye peice( top pf microscop or roughly said which stay near eye). Objective lens are of three type. Low power (4X and10X),High power (40X or sometimes 45X) and oil immersion lens(100X). Oil immersio lens is also some times consider ss high power objective lens. "X" denoted the time of magnification. 4X- four time magnification.

Low magnification always cover large area and lower depth and vice versa true for high magnification.

1. When we start with new slide, it is unknown that under which magnification we get the proper image in such cases we always start with low power magnification i.e. 4X which cover high feild (easily locate the object where to see) and low magnification.

Answer is (a) AX

2. Larger feild veiw always acheived through low power magnification.

Answer is (a) 4X low power onbjective.

3. Highr the magnification higher the depth.

Answer is (d)100X oil immersion lens.

4. Centimeter is largest unit of measurment. 1cm=1000milimeter(10^-3 cm), 1milimeter= 1000microMeter (10,^-6cm) 1 micrometer= 1000 nenometer(10^-9cm).

5. To measure microliter quantity of liquid we can use micropipette.

Rular is for measure diatance, beacker is for measure liquid but in larger quantity ( in liter of mililiter not in microliter). Micrometer is again used for distnce.

Answer (d) micropipette.

6. Curved surface of liquid in becker is known as meniscus ( option C is the right answer). Milimeter is unit of distance, micron and micrometer are unit of distance.
