2. The lattice energy in KCl is much lower because of the larger size of the potassium ion. This increase in size means that the oppositely charged ions in KCl are further part than those in NaCl and therefore it takes less energy to break up the ionic bond in KCl. Thus, if we replace KCl with NaCl in the above case, less amount of NaCl would have been broken and thus, the concentrations would have decreased respectively of Na+ and Cl- ions in the equillibrium state.
