Question
What would be the height of a column of water supported by the pressure 0.921 atm,assume that the density of water is 1.00g/cm? NOTE> can you please explain this is detail as if would it be for a 5th grader.? Pressure is given by the formula:
P = density*g*h
here:
P = 0.921 atm
= 0.921*1.01325*10^5 Pa
= 9.33*10^4 Pa
g = 9.8 m/s^2 (This is acceleration due to gravity)
density = 1.00 g/cm^3 = 1000 Kg/m^3
Put all these values:
P = density*g*h
9.33*10^4 Pa = 1000 Kg/m^3 * 9.8 m/s^2 * h
h = 9.52 m
Answer: 9.52 m
