water softner remove calcium and magnesium from water and replace with a trace amount of sodium.Sodium does not react with soap and detergent.This will reduce the amount of soap you would need to use and insures it will not remain in on the item being washed.Calcium and Magnesium (Hard water)in water interfere with cleaning action of soap and detergent thats why more soap is required to clean but since dove already have sodium content formulations;it will not affect much the cleaning action of soap after water softner has broken while using dove.
