General Chemistry 4th Edition University Science Books presented by Sapling Learning Map Calculate the standard entropy, AS'nxm, of the following reaction at 25.0 °C using the data in this table The standard enthalpy of the reaction, AHran, is -633.1 kJ mor-1 Number J.K1. mol Then, calculate the standard Gibbs free energy of the reaction, AGrxn Number kJ mol" Finally, determine which direction the reaction is spontaneous as written at 250°C and standard pressure forward reverse O both O neither Next E e Check Answer O Previous Give Up & View SolutionExplanation / Answer
Solution :-
Formula to calculate the delta S rxn is as follows
Delta S rxn = sum of delta S product - sum of delta S reactant
= [C6H6(l)*1] – [ 3* C2H2]
= [172.8*1] – [200.85*3]
= -429.75 J/K mol
Now lets calculate the delta G of the reaction
Delta G= Delta H – (T*delta S)
= -633.1 kJ/ mol – (298 K * (-429.75 J per mol K * 1 kJ / 1000 J))
= -505.035 kJ/mol
