1. Ionic Compounds have ionic bond. Ionic bond is strong electrostatic force of attraction between cation and Anion and involve complete electron transfer.

Ionic bonds are formed between metals and non-metals. Metals have tendency to lose electron to achieve stable octet and hence they form cation. On the other hand non metals achieve stable octet by gaining electron and hence they form anions.
