The entropy is degree of disorderness, higher the disorderness higher the entropy.
To know the the entropy trend we have to remember that
1. If two gas have same number of moles, then the gas with more number of atoms in a molecule will have higher entropy ( due to more number of macrostates)
so out of 1 mole of CCl4 , Cl2 and Argon ( same temperature and volume): CCl4 will have highest entropy followed by Cl2 and Argon.
3. The smaller number of molecules lesser the entropy
So 1 mole of Argon will have higher entropy then 1/2 moles of argon ( same volume and same temperature)
4.In a colder gas the molecules or atoms are not so energetic and so do not occupy so many different energetic states and hence will have less entropy .
so 1/2 mole of argon gas at 273 K will have high entropy than that at 100 K
5. A liquid is more ordered than a gas, reducing its entropy.
