Question
The table below shows weather observations taken at some location at 6 PM yesterday and 6 PM today: Using the observations above, which of the following is true? A. Based on the dew point readings, the amount of water vapor in the air increased from yesterday to today. B. Based on dew point readings, the amount of water vapor in the air decreased from yesterday to today. C. The air was closer to saturation yesterday than today. D. The maximum amount of water vapor that could be in the air was greater yesterday than today. E. Both A and CExplanation / Answer
Answer A. Based on the dew point reading, the amount of water vapor in the air increased from yesterday to today
Dew point is the temperature to which air must be cooled to become saturated with water vapor. When further cooled, the airborne water vapor will condense to form liquid dew. When air with a high dew point contacts surfaces at colder temperatures, then liquid dew will form on the surfaces as condensation. Dew point is sometimes called frost point when the temperature is below freezing. The measurement of dew point is related to humidity. A higher dew point means there will be more moisture in the air. In above table dev point is greater today then yesterday because of this reason amount of water vapor in the air increased from yesterday to today.
