Observations : Slime formed in 100 ml beaker cup. No slime formation in 250 ml cup. Just foam has formed.

Questions : 1. Identify the properties of the material( Slime). Is your material is a ploymer.?? How do you know??

2. Evaluate . Based on the properties of this material, what do you think it could be used for?? How could the properties be modified?? Thanks in advance.

Explanation / Answer

Formation of new slime material

Borax laundry soap when mixed with glue forms a slime which is the new material in this case.

1. The material thus formed is sticky and it is polymeric in nature. The glue is a polymer which is mixed with borax to generate a new polymeric material.

2. The material is sticky, elastic and can be moulded in any form as we wanted. The properties can further be modified by say mild heating of the slime formed.
