Question

Write up a research proposal on this topic: GMO's and Diet The Purpose The purpose of the research proposal is to give both you and me an idea of where you would like your research to go. This is by no means a final, set-in-stone plan. Rather, the proposal permits you to focus and direct your research. There are hundreds of thousands of potential sources to be found, and a focused approach will prevent you from becoming overwhelmed or wandering aimlessly through the Internet. As you continue to research, you should be able to develop your ideas beyond what you include here. A good place to start for any research project is to think critically about your topic. Your proposal should demonstrate this critical thinking. What interests you about this topic? Angers you? What about this topic has had a direct effect on you or people you know? What needs to change? Stay the same? Keep in mind that the purpose of your research project will be to inform your reader. This is almost always better accomplished by choosing a direction that contains some personal meaning or interest you. What to Include Your proposal must be a full 1.5-2 page (350- 500 words), typed, double spaced, TNR size 12 font, 1" margins all around, MLA format. You must include at least one working thesis statement-multiple if you have multiple ideas. This, again, is not final. In fact, I expect your thesis to evolve as your project progresses. You should include possible directions for your research. On which area (s) will you be focusing? Which question(s) will you attempt to answer? You should also include WHY these areas interest you. Why are they important to you and to your reader?

Explanation / Answer

ANSWER:

Genetically modified foods were created with the intention to improve overall quality of life. However, they are associated with various environmental, health, and economic risks that render them to actually be more harmful than helpful

A genetically modified organism, or GMO, is an organism that has had its DNA altered or modified in some way through genetic engineering. In most cases,GMOs have been altered with DNA from another organism, be it a bacterium, plant, virus or animal; these organisms are sometimes referred to as "transgenic" organisms.

Harmful to Humans; causes cancer and many such diseases and Decreases the richness of the soil

One specific concern is the possibility for GMOs to negatively affect human health. This could result from differences in nutritional content, allergic response, or undesired side effects such as toxicity, organ damage, or gene transfer.

FOCUSING ON AGRICULTURE:

Farming itself can be destructive to the plant , can cause fertilizer runoff into our water sources, conventional agriculture still uses pesticides. Plants themselves aren’t usually bad for the environment, but growing them in huge quantities like we do to be able to feed the world’s ever-growing population can be. I’m not saying GMOs are perfect. They have their environmental flaws, like the creation of super weeds . I’m just saying that GMOs CAN have benefits ESPECIALLY if we learn from our mistakes with first generation GMOs and do better to fix their flaws next time. The population is growing, climate change is happening, and science–specifically genetic engineering–can help us grow food more sustainably in light of these things. Did you hear about the GMO rice that produces 43% more grain and emits 97% less methane

Nature adapts, thus giving birth to super weeds and super pests, which means that stronger chemicals will need to be used such for a good crop so the GMO's are still existing. It is required to human beings.
