Seperation and Qualitative Analysis of Cations Post Lab
Please help me finish the questions that have not be crossed out, I only have until the ned of the night and my final grade depends on it. PLEASE I WILL LOVE YOU
Here is the lab procedure:
Thank you so much for helping me finish the lab!
3. Write half-reactions that show how H2O2 n act as either an oxidizing agent or a reducing agent, and describe where each of these situations occurred in your testing. 4. In your testing, several precipitates are formed, and then dissolved as complexes. Select three of these situations for which to write a balanced reaction equation. 5. When Mrkio e mixture they Write the reaction equations thatdeseti 6. The NH3 solution is used, in three separate instances, to separate two ions. In each of these cases, one ion forms a precipitate and the other ion remains in solution as a complex. Describe each of these instances, using reaction equations.Explanation / Answer
3. H2O2 acts as both oxidizing agent and an reducing agent.
With H2S it acts as oxidizing agent
H2S + H2O2 ---> S + 2H2O
with Cl2 a string oxidizing gent it acts an an reducing agent
Cl2 + H2O2 --> 2HCl + O2
In the current experiment Mn2+ is oxidized to Mn4+ by H2O2.
4. Formation and dissoltuion of precipitate
Cu2+ + 2OH- ---> Cu(OH)2 (ppt) + 4NH3 ---> Cu(NH3)4]2+(aq) + 3OH-
Fe3+ + 3OH- ==> Fe(OH)3(ppt) + SCN- ---> [FeSCN]2+(doluble)
A3+ + 3OH0= --> Al(OH)3(ppt) + OH- ---.> [Al(OH)4]- (soluble)
5. Ag+ and Pn2+
Ag+ + 2NH3 --> [Ag(NH3)2]+ (soluble)
Pb2+ + 2OH- --> P(OH)2(ppt)
Al3+ and Zn2+ (with NH3 + OH --NH4OH)
Al3+ + 3OH- --> Al(OH)3(ppt)
Zn2+ + OH- --> Zn(OH)2(soluble)
