pH of a SOIL: pH of soil is related with nutrient uptake. This influences how plants can take nutrients from soil.The standard measurement of acidity and alkalinity is known as pH. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14 and the factors like temperature and rainfall can affect soil pH.

A. High pH values are found in STRONG ALKALINE SOILS with pH range greater than 8.5. similarly Low pH values ranging below less than 3.5 are extremely ACIDIC.

B. As mentioned pH of soil affects plants ability of nutrients and is uptake. So by modifying the pH in a soil allows the plants to uptake more nutrients. First soil test is needed to determine the pH of a soil, the neutral range of pH is 7 and depending on which type of plants to be grown in that particular soil you can determine how the soil should be adjusted.

C. The availability of nutrients is greatly affected by soil pH. Most nutrients becomes available for most plants in range varying 6 to 7.5 and the effects are complex and vary depending on different nutrients. The lower pH values increases excess availability and higher pH values decreases the availability of most essential nutrients, so the adjustment of soil pH is recommended.

D. At high pH(Alkaline) the nutrients/elements like iron, manganese, Phosphorus, boron becomes unavailable.
