Euthanasia, ask your coworkers, family and friends for their understanding of brain death andpersistent vegetative state; the hospice approach, and the medical and legalaspects of allowing to someone to die by removing a ventilator or feeding tubewhen there is no hope of recovery. How well informed were you regarding end of life care beforetaking this course? Do they understand the medical and legalissues? Assuming that such acts were legal, could you yourself ever allow someone to die or perform voluntary or nonvoluntary euthanasia? If not, why not? If so, under what circumstances? Describe the circumstances fully, and explain the reasoning behind your answers.

EUTHANASIA: The term euthanasia is derived from a GREEK WORD which means GOOD DEATH. It is also called as assisted suicide and in simple words it is defined as MERCY KILLING. Netherlands is the first country to legalise euthanasia. Apart from that many other countries consider euthanasia is against law.

Euthanasia is simply the termination of one's life which involves both medical and legal issues. Vegetative state term is most widely used in the UK and vegetative state is different from COMA. To explain this better, a person in coma state may experience some betterment which is then termed as vegetative state.

Voluntary euthanasia: If that particular person makes a voluntary descision and request to let him help to die.

Involuntary euthanasia: This involuntary refers to end one person's life without their knowledge.

I've come across this situation in my real life where my friend's brother was terminated through assisted suicide. He met with road accident and his brain was severely damaged and been in coma state for almost 2 years. They shifted him to multiple hospitals and already spent huge amount for his health. Nothing could save him and doctors where just pulling money for months but no improvement in his health. For his treatment expenses the family sold their property, but still they had no hope. As you know end of life care treatments are very expensive. His medical bills literally eaten up all their savings and property. So they decided to proceed for euthanasia, it really hurts but to be honest will the expenses really benefit? Many really think that it is not a moral act but just think from their family point of view.
