Extraction with NaOH, phenyl acetic acid in aqueous layer and bromoacetanilide in the organic layer. Acetanilide can be separted by solvent removal and further purified by recrystallization. Whereas phenyl aceitc on further acidification of the aqueous layer gets precipitated.
