Question

You are a prison guard supervising the upper tier in a small, medium security prison. One of the inmates comes to you and asks for a favor. Because he is a trouble-maker, the warden has had his mail privileges taken away. He wants you to mail a letter for him. You know that the other guards would be against your doing this, but you also know that the inmate could make your job easier by keeping the other inmates on the tier in line. You also know that it would be easy for you to mail the letter without anyone ever knowing about it.

What should you do

Explanation / Answer

NO I will not do that favor for him. Even if I know that it is very easy for me to mail the letter it is also mentioned above that the inmate is a trouble-maker, so I cannot help him and put my job at risk. Being a prison guard I should obviously answer jail superiors if I help him anyways and get caught. If the mail is very important then I should first inform the warden and ask him if there is any possibility for allowing the inmate to use his mail privilege for once. Also I do warn the inmate not to ask me anymore help in future. I should be a strict guard in supervision, because if I help him for once then many other inmate fellows will also ask for some sort of favor. So it would be better for not helping the inmate in this matter.
