Question
The subject of the Mexican border, especially since this last election, has been a heated issue. In comparison, to the Canadian border which does not receive must attention in the news. There generally aren't many reports of illegal immigrants, drug smuggling or human trafficking from Canada. The subject of the Mexican border is very difficult for me to discuss because on July 1 2015, my husband's neice (his oldest brother's daughter) Kate Steinle was killed by an illegal immigrant while walking on Pier 14 in San Francisco, Ca. with per dad and a family friend. Kate was 32 years old. Juan Francisco Lopez Sanchez, the illegal immigrant had been deported back to Mexico 5 times, had 7 felony convictions and was on probation from the state of Texas for drug charges, the day he killed Kate. All the details about Kate's killing are to numerous to mention in this post but it goes without saying that Juan Francisco Lopez Sanchez, given his criminal record, should have never been allowed to re-enter the United States. It has been 2 years this month since Kate's death and my husband still has a hard time believing she is gone. Obviously, the United States has serious issues with illegal immigrants crossing the into the U.S. via the Mexican border. President Trump wants to build a wall. Will that help, that is to be seen. With that said, we are a nation which symbolizes hope and freedom for all immigrants. Even thou, given the fact what has happened to my husband's family, I strongly believe that every person who wants to come to the United States should be allow entrance but they must do so legally, with due process and proper documentation. These are the requirements with no exceptions, just like my great grandparents did via Ellis Island.
IN 5-6 LINES WHAT DO YOU AGREED WITH THIS PASSAGE AND EXPLAIN WHY
Explanation / Answer
This article describes about the requirements for entering a nation. I agree with the fact that proper borders like walls and fences are necessary to avoid illegal activities. Necessary paperwork must be carried out to avoid illegal immigrants. Each country must focus on border to avoid clashes with neighborhood nations.
