Question
The scenario:
You just put the kids down to sleep and are settling in on the couch to catch up on the news. The news segment you are watching is talking about how the microbeads in body washes, face soap, etc. are polluting the waterways. The segment talks about how these microbeads cannot break down and even other plastics eventually become microbeads which the fish and wildlife ingest and cannot process the microbeads out of their systems leading to bioaccumulation in their digestion systems. The segment says that by the year 2030 the oceans and other waterways, including the wildlife, will be choked out. The solution, the news anchor states, is to ban microbeads from products, and for consumers to decrease their consumption of plastics and to recycle, reduce, and reuse.

Use the questions outlined above to analyze and evaluate the scenario. In other words, ask the questions about the scenario and, based on your answers, decide whether the claim in the scenario is justified or not and explain your reasoning. If you find the claim unjustified, briefly explain what you would suggest to gain scientific knowledge about the claim.
Explanation / Answer
Justification of the claim in the scenario: Since decrease in the production and consumption of plastics is possible, rejunavation of the oceanic resources will increase. The aquatic organisms may no longer find trouble with microbeads. Recycling and reusing of plastics will be a better idea as it will prevent the wastes to into the ocean.
