Explanation / Answer

1. Did the moderator do an adequate job of getting the information needed by the SCC?

The moderator did an adequate job of getting the information needed by the SCC by starting out explaining who he was and the purpose of the research he was trying to obtain. He also was very encouraging and trying to get the people to talk to one another by asking questions that everyone could follow along with and respond too. I also believe that he did a good job with asking everyone for their suggestions and opinions during the conversation. One thing I did notice as well was that the questions were open ended and with open ended questions that gives people a chance to really think and open up and talk to one another. The moderator was good at not asking questions that everyone would jump to another discussion or jump off topic. So the moderator is supposed to keep everyone entertain and wanting to hear more by continuing to interact with one another.

2. Do you think it was wise to have a group with both graduate and undergraduate students included?

I think that it was wise to have a group of graduate and undergraduate students included. I say this because the article talked about topics that both groups needed to hear. Also, this is a good way to conserve time and not have to make to different discussions for the group. Another thing would be that someone might have a question to ask and everyone can hear it because there are times when people want to ask questions but are scared to ask. Also, the students were okay with being in the same group and sharing ideas and talking to one another so I do believe this was a good idea.

3. Analyze the focus group transcript very thoroughly. Make a list of problems and ideas generated for the student computer lab.

After analyzing the focus group transcript I have found that the students who are going into the computer lab and using the computers are not knowing what they are doing and are putting viruses on them. With the computer lab here are some ideas:

Some problems for the computer lab are:

4. What do you see as the benefits and limitations of the focus group findings? Do you think the task force plan for utilizing the focus groups is appropriate?

I believe that the benefits of using the task force plan is beneficial to the focus groups because that way they all will have a understanding about what is going on and what is expected. The limitations would be that everyone does not follow rules and that some people might not have been able to attend the group to understand what is going on. The benefit is that everyone will be able to use the computer lab and be able to understand the importance of the focus group.
