Temporary Protected Status, or TPS is humanitarian lifesaving program of the United States as per UN policy to protect Refugees. An estimated 50000 Haitians are living in US under TPS since 2010 when an earthquake of great magnitude devastated the country affecting a third of countries entire population.

After the earth quake there was a cholera epidemic killing at least 10000 & affecting hundreds others. In 2016-17 Haiti again faced many hurricanes & storms like hurricane Mathew, El Nino & Hurricane Irma & Maria resulting in further destruction & severely affecting economy. These disasters have already wiped out much of the progress made towards its economy & infrastructure.
