Yes we do agree. The reason is that in case of certain issues like provision of public goods market mechanism fails and govt has to intervene. Similarly experience of capitalist countries like usa shows while the country can achieve growth the inequality may increase. In free market mechanism incomes of individuals depend upon their ownership of property, resources etc . ownership is quite skewed in most parts of world. And if govt does not intervene poor will be left behind. Govt intervention is necessary to take people out of clutches of poverty, starvation etc. Even provision of merit goods can go a long way in reducing inequality. The poor should be provided level playing field to compete.
