In this period crustal reworking start to predominate over continental crust and also continental collision start to occur. consider. The Supercontinent kenorland was formed during the end of archean. Super continent forming leads to collision of two plates and also start to develop large structures like mounatin in the earth.Archean period is classified as eo, paleo,meso, neo. Neo archean is the end of archean period. in that time only oxygenic photosynthesis evolved.

The Archean era lasted from 3.8 billion years ago to 2.5 billion years ago, by which it is considered as one of the longest and eventful era in earth's history.
The atmosphere during the Archean era was very deadly to humans today because the atmosphere back during that era was composed of Methane, Ammonia and other gases. Almost 75% of the continental land masses we have today are formed around during that period.
There are four major periods of the Archean era and many changes occurred in the earth.
1. PALEOARCHEAN period where plants started to grow and there was non oxygen producing photosynthesis. So there is not very sufficient amount of oxygen in the atmosphere.
2. MESOARCHEAN is the period where oxygen levels still remained very low and that amount of oxygen was used by rocks and minerals to oxidize.
3. EOARCHEAN period where earth had begun to develop a hard crust and believed earth was reddish. Massive asteroid bombardment in the inner solar system resulted to cause eoarchean period.
4. NEOARCHEAN was the most important period in the entire Archean era and only during this period oxygen photosynthesis had begun. Super continent KENORLAND was formed during this period.
Other important facts regarding this neoarchean period was that the beginning of PLATE TECTONICS and the continents started to spread apart. IGNEOUS ROCKS began to dominate earth's surface and IRON ORES began to form in large quantities. Major thing that happened and changed the future of earth is that LIQUID WATER condensed and started to form oceans.
