Question
I contract with two artists from Iran to paint a mural in my home in August. In June, I put an addition on my home to enlarge the room where the mural will be painted, at a cost of $75,000. The week before the painters are scheduled to fly to the U.S., President Trump issues an executive order banning travel from Iran to the United States. I sue the painters for breach of contract, seeking to recover the $75,000 spent on the addition to the house. Which are likely defenses for the painters.

Explanation / Answer
I cannot recover the amount from the Painters because I had renovated my house in the month of June and made the contract in the month of August. Further, the painters have not breached the contract intentionally but they were forced to. They never refused to travel to US but it was US government decision to ban travellers from Iran.
Therefore, the amount cannot be recovered from the Iranian painters.
Thus, it is an unreasonable reliance.
