d) Marbel would be harder to excavate. Because marble is a metamorphic rock, formed by recrystallization of limestone into marble during the mountain-building process. When limestone is heated and squeezed to recrystallize the grains, limestone changes to marbel. It means heat and pressure causes the formation of marble. So, the marble is non-porous, compact and insoluble in water. But limestone is a chemically sedimentary rock that is made up of fossilized particles and CaCO3. limestone is porous and is soluble in water. So marbel would be harder to excavate.
e) Bedding and cracks are visible in limestone. Even it contains fossil fragments (for example, bits of shell) bounded by a calcite matrix. Limestone is more porous than marble, because there are small openings between the fossil fragments. Those are the main cause of the weakness of limestone.
Marble is non-foliated but sometimes it may be foliated. Foliation may cause the weakness of marbel.
