Question

Question 2) History and Science A) Pick one aspect of the earth-centered system and explain why that part of the system was added or constructed in a scientific way. B) List the two renaissance astronomers who attacked perfection and give me one situation where one of them did so. C) Scientists will study the world around us and use the understanding of the world to figure out how the rest of the Universe works. But this can cause problems if we are different from the rest of the Universe. Pick either: 1) Motions here on earth, or 2) the Composition here on Earth, and then explain how we're different and why we're different.

Explanation / Answer

(A) The earth centered system or the Geocentric System were the early models of our Universe which stated that the Earth is the Center of the Universe. There were many who pastulated this theory. One of the famous Greek philosophers Plato was one of them. He said that the Earth was at the center and the other stars and planets were revolving around the earth in circles arranged in order. The order is Moon, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Plato describes the cosmos as "Spindle of Necessity" taken care by the Sirens and Moirai. Aristotle elaborated the fact that the other planets revolved around the Earth using Mathematical explanations rather than philosphical ones.

(B) Two renaissance astronomers who "attacked the perfection" are Galileo Galilei and Nicolas Copernicus. among the two, Copernicus is well known to go against the fact of the Geocentric System. Copernicus postulated that the Earth was not the center of the universe rather it was the sun. The model is known as "Copernican Heliocentrism" . The major discoveries in this theory are

The sun is in the center and the other planets revolved around the sun

There are three types of motion of Earth, Rotation, Revolution, and tilting of axis

The Sun-Earth distance is smaller than Sun-Other stars distance

(C) The composition here on earth is a big deciding factor to figure out the other ends of the universe. The earth is situated at an ideal distance from the sun, that is not very far and not very near, this is a deciding factor for the prescence of liquid water which is crucial for the survival of the life forms here on earth. The atmosphere has a perfect blend of Nitrogen, Oxygen for the balance of life. Wtih these facts in mind, we can study the other parts of the universe in space exploration where the main objective is to find life forms in the other parts of the observable universe. That is by comparing the parameters here on earth, we can explore the other planets for other life forms.
