In this homework, we will investigate the relationship between grades of first year engineering students on the one hand, and their high school SAT scores (both verbal and math) and their high school class ranks. You could find the data in this website: http://www.ccon.ohio- You need to install Gretl in your computer to do this homework. Please follow the instructions on the Gretl Guide, that is available on carmen, if you need any help. After installing Gretl, please go to the above website, and copy&paste; the data (only the numbers not the explanations) on a notepad. Save the notepad file on your hard disk (please do not forget where you saved it). Start Gretl, and load the data file, (again you should road the Gretl Guide if you need any help) Regress "gpa" on "hsrank", "satm", and "satv", and print your regression results. (Do not forget to add the constant while running the regression) Interprets the slope coefficient of each explanatory variables. Test the null hypotheses that //o : A = 0 for k = 1,2,3 (which means there are 3 hypotheses in total that you need to test) at 5% level of significance. For each test write down if the test is one-sided or two-sided, which distribution you should use, critical value of the test, and calculate the test statistics (t-calculated or F-calculated). 1 Hint: you unit see the standard errors of each estimates on the regression output that you obtain on Gretl Test the null hypothesis that H0 : beta1 = beta2 = beta3 = 0 at 1% level of significance.
