You will watch this documentary in your own time, viewable in the Documentaries tab on Sakai. Based on your viewing of the documentary, respond to the following questions. I expect at least 1 paragraph responses for each question. Most of this assignment is not about getting the right answers, rather I am asking you to be honest. Did you find it convincing, or were you turned off by it? Why? However, I expect you to draw on other things we have learned from in the class, in order to answer question 4.

1.How does this documentary make you feel about climate change? Does it make you more or less likely to believe that action needs to be taken to deal with climate change?

2. How would you try and alter the views of someone who is skeptical about the reality of climate change? Do documentaries like this help? Would you appeal to their wallets, their emotions, their culture?

3. In dealing with climate change, what should we try and emphasize: the need to maintain a sustainable economy, a sustainable environment or a sustainable society?

4. Identify some of the ways the documentary links climate change with other issues we have discussed in class. Choose at least two examples, and explain the links.

Explanation / Answer

1. Climate change is not a small issue its a global issue, personally I feel I too contribute in certain respect in this global issue and my footprint is there too in this global problem, Yes I do believe it the necessity of our time to take some necessary steps not on an individual level whereas we as whole should contribute to this.
2. We are getting some indications of this global issue as the melting of the polar ice caps along with the rising sea level and moreover we can find the temperature in our locality is increasing day by day and there is no point of denial to overlook it and this all evidence can be enough to convince any skeptics on this global issue. Documentaries like this will definitely be going to impart some knowledge with adding any individual to draw some conclusion on any issue. Yes, certainly I would appeal to them in order to make the correct decision.
3. Climate change is a very sensitive issue and our present civilization is totally dependent upon on the non-renewable resources and by releasing the fixed carbon in the atmosphere in order to adopt a new technology it needs to be implemented on the large scale to meet our energy requirement, as an Individual what can I contribute is by reducing our carbon footprint and adopting green source of energy along with changing our food habit.
