Explanation / Answer

e-Bay: Industry analysis

e-bay is active in three major segments namely market place, business segments and communications. In market place, e-Bay has 14 percent of global ecommerce share with 86.3 million users. It's involved in long-term contract with companies that provide marketing, customer support, and tecnology. e-Bay has reported nice growth in both their PayPal as well as Skype business accounts. Future profitability depends on the ability to manage credit while attracting new profitable consumers. The communications segment faces stiff competition, and some traditiional communications companies offer bundled services such as cable or satellite alongwith internet or voice communications services. e-Bay's popularity is due to the value offered to its users.

Competitive analysis:

e-bay is one of the dominant players in the global e-commerce market. Its payment's business continues to expand at an impressive pace and the net payment volume rose by 35 percent during the nine months ending September. The competitive rivalry, bargaining power of the customers, and the threat of new entrants are the three key forces that pose as a threat to e-Bay's business. Despite these factors, e-bay expects long-term growth owing to its strong market position. There are also suppliers that generate traffice on e-Bay's website. They account for more than 20 percent of traffic on e-Bay. Changes in SEO (search engine optimization) algorithms may have a negitive impact on traffic. Many referring sites and social networks bring considerable traffic to e-Bay, and changes in their policies might affect the company's top-line and profitability. Their $67 estimate for e-Bay's stock reperesents near 20 percent premium to the current market price.
