Perils are the situation in which a responsibility of caring a patient is given from one clinician to other, this if not properly planned, communicated and understood, can lead to adverse effects, human injury or any sort of damage. If the team recruited is not purposeful, it leads to decrease in team and organizational performance and directly or indirectly affects patient health and society. The outcome is waste of planning, facilities, money etc. if communication is not proper and team is not having a team spirit, it certainly affects their work which leads to medical errors. These can be stated as perils.

Effective communication among the team members is necessary for effective working environment. Communication may involve use of mail, fax, messages and other channels. The communication should be based on honesty, creativity, discipline, curiosity etc. Listening is also an essential quality for effective communication. If proper communication is not there, it will lead to lack of understanding resulting in harmful consequences. Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration are the skills which strengthen the team as a whole. Interdisciplinary team which may include patient, patient’s family, primary care provider, therapist, pharmacist, psychologist etc. can work together to achieve health care goals in a better way.

These two increase the performance and understanding within the team which results in better working ability, and work with minimal errors and adverse events.
