WHO defined Health is a state of physical, mental, and social well-being. It encompasses the person's life in all aspects. Health is not just an absence of illness, it is how the people are understanding, accepting the health and is shaped by the society. Social institutions, tradition, and society can have a profound effect on a healthy person. Hereby I like to discuss how health becomes a social issue. Health is not associated with a social issue, but most of the sociologists argue that health is a major social issue.
Healthcare - social issues is an interdisciplinary program in analyzing the complex and ethical implications of health care policies and delivery system. Technology, culture, economy and sociological process greatly influence on modern health care.
Good nutrition can help to prevent disease and to promote health. Consumption of fruits and vegetables reduces the majority of diseases. Balanced Nutrition is necessary for body functions. Weight issues may affect the physical, psychological and socio-emotional considerations. Decreased level of nutrients and sedentary lifestyle are the main causes of obesity.
Changing nutrition habit in order to get necessary calories, vitamins, minerals to begin.Alcohol addiction mostly affects the physical and psychological dependence of daily life. Alcohol addiction is the major issue among teenagers.
Aging is another issue, where the older person declines to some degree of daily activities. Changes with aging is also a social issue that influences on older person illness. Healthcare team must evaluate the older person social needs and support.
Insurance coverage is an another issue in American society. Most people depend on insurance, so the health care system must be prioritized the issue. The Federal Government takes steps to ensure medical insurance. The state should implement insurance program for the benefit of all the people and reduce the number of uninsured.
