1. The status of the body which is dependent on the type of nutrients and diet received and affects the health of body is called the nutritional status. The nutritional status is normal when the food intake is adequate with sufficient nutrition in it.

Whereas, nutritional risk is risk associated with the health due to increased demand of nutrition in the body due to medical conditions.

2. Four blood proteins used in nutritional assessment are:

1. Prealbumin: it is useful in assessment of nutritional risk. Its concentration decreases with certain diseases and increases with some kidney disorders.

2. Albumin: It is useful marker to detect the presence of disorder but its sensitivity is low.

3. Transferrin: It is responsible for transfer of iron. Its concentration increases with decrease in level of iron in body. It is a useful marker.

4. Retinol binding protein: It is a god marker to assess the nutritional risk. It is involved in transfer of retinol in the body. The concentration of retinol binding protein changes in the presence of some disorders.
