Explanation / Answer
a) Short-term, since weather changes from day-to-day and he couldtherefore be employed the next day, but he most definitely will beemployed within a year, which is generally what economist think ofas a "short-term" time period. b) Long-term. The key word here is "isolated" area. She will mustlikely have to move to find a new job, which takes time. It couldbe short-term if more information (like why she lost her job) wasgiven in the statement, but as it stands it is more likely to belong-term. c) Short-term, since the worker could adapt fairly quickly andstart to work for the railroad industry. As this statement impliesthat the railroad company is growing whereas the stagecoachindustry is in decline. d) Short-term, since he could apply for a job at the restaurantacross the street. Furthermore, many food establishments needshort-order cooks to work for them (not just restaurants, butcoffee shops and other eateries too). Also, food is a necessity andthe demand for food will always be there. e) Long-term, since her job is becoming obsolete with the additionof new technology. It is unlikely that she will be able tofind the same job at a different company since they are probablyutilizing the same new machinery or will be in the near future. There will be more people with the same set of skills looking forsimilar work and at the same time an ever decreasing number ofpositions, i.e. there will be an surplus of labor for this type ofposition. Furthermore, she will probably need to get more skills inorder to get another job by going to college or a trade school, which will take more time. Please, RATE MY POST.
