Question

Discuss a reason you would or would not take vitamin supplements. Consider your personal diet, lifestyle choices/habits, fortification of our food supply, and what you learned about tolerable upper limits etc. for certain vitamins. You can also consider a family member or friend who has a certain condition or diet that might benefit or be harmed by supplements. Use information from the text that is valid or other research from valid sources.Your post should have at least one direct quote from the textbook.

Opinions are fine, but they MUST be backed up by valid information (so saying "I take fish oil and loads of whey protein to supplement etc. because my trainer told me it was good" is not enough). This is an interesting discussion because supplements are such a big industry and there is so much to consider with them--some good, some not so much. Please look at both for and against arguments and as always, be mindful of only citing .edu, .gov, or mainstream news websites (Washington Post, NPR, New York Times, etc...) or non-profit websites. Do not cite any unreliable websites, any commercial websites or any "lite" websites - no livestrong, oprah, etc... - please only real news organizations, real science/educational sites only.
