Question
Develop a presentation no longer than 10-12 minutes with comprehensive speaker's notes that covers all of the major areas of your proposal. This is evidence-based practice research paper. My topic is on gestational diabetes mellitus. PICOT Question: Will a research-based, population specific diabetic education provided to the gestational diabetic women at the clinic increase the number of women who achieve an A1c less than 6 at the 90 day check compared to the number of women greater than 6 prior to education development. Please I need an expert to answer this question with appropriate headings, citations and references. Thanks.
Explanation / Answer
Gestation diabetes occurs during pregnancy in some women who develop high blood sugar levels. It raises a risk of developing type 2 diabetes in future . The normal range hba1c is 4-5.6%,If it exceeds this percentage it shows presence of gestation diabetes. The awareness education helps in decrease in rate of risk getting gestation diabetes in pregnant women.
Per pregnancy counseling: Many researchers has shown that women whose blood sugar levels are elevated when they become pregnant have a higher risk of having a baby with birth defects. Assisting them in obtaining and maintaining good control of blood glucose reduces such risks.
Educational services: obstetrician gives an informal class for patients with gestation diabetes mellitus ,in which they explain the risks it poses to both mother and a baby. Individual sessions with their diabetes nurse educators help them learn how to test own blood glucose levels using a glucometer. Making them to do regular exercises which help them to cut down the carbs.
More than 8 million women in United States have GDM, in which 7% is of all pregnancy cases. So basic education and awareness programs should be conducted by all the hospitals to reduce the risk of GDM.
