Question
A 9.00 cm diameter wire coil is initially oriented so that its plane is perpendicular to a magnetic field of 0.520 T pointing up. (Another way of saying this is that the normal to the coil's area is initially parallel to the magnetic field.) During the course of 0.140 s, the field is changed to one of 0.290 T pointing down. What is the magnitude of the CHANGE in the magnetic flux through this loop? (Use SI metric units, but just enter your answer as number, do not enter units)
+/- 0.00186 is incorrect
Explanation / Answer
apply magnetic flux phi = NAB cos theta
here Cos theta = 1
so
change in magnetic flux = NA(B2-B1)
where A is area = pi r^2
so
change in mag flux = 1 * 3.14 * 0.045 *0.045 *(0.52-0.29)
change in flux = 1.46 *10^-3 Wb
so with out units it is 0.00146
