Molly is 35 years old and she is married to James. They have two children Eric who is 8 years old and Sebastian who is 3 years old. James works as a long distance lorry driver and spends long periods abroad. Molly was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes two years ago, and manages her condition well. Molly has just discovered she is 8 weeks pregnant. She hopes it will be a girl this time but is worried she will suffer from post natal depression as she felt very low following Sebastian's birth. She has a part time job at a local supermarket fitting her shifts around school and nursery. Molly likes to go to the gym but finds it difficult to find time to get there James (Molly's husband) is 37 year old and works as a lorry driver. He has to travel long distance and currently spends more time abroad than at home. James i pleased that Molly is expecting another baby. Recently he has started looking for work closer to home so he can offer more support to Molly. Unfortunately he has been unable to find a suitable job close to home but continues to look for one. Molly has noticed that James gets worried. She has also noticed that he is low in mood, irritable and loses his temper easily. He has started to smoke again, a habit he stopped 4 years earlier. His alcohol intake has also increased Molly's parents have been very supportive but her father has just been diagnosed with dementia. Molly's father (David) was diagnosed with Alzheimer's about 18 months ago. Most of the time he manages well but he relies on his wife to remind him to take his medication Recently he got lost whilst out shopping without his ife, a friend saw him and helped him to get home. He is now reluctant to go out alone in case he gets lost. Molly and James have two children Eric who is 8 years old and Sebastian who is 3 years old. Towards the end of Eric's primary school years, he was found to havea learning difficulty and to be on the lower end of the autistic spectrum. He attends a mainstream school with additional support in the school. He uses limited speech to communicate therefore gets frustrated when people fail to understand him and at times displays behaviour that is difficult to manage. irregular or poor diet which causes obesity or malnutrition, smoking, age, stress and anxiety, drugs, hereditary,social and cultural environment etc.
2.In the case study given above shows that James get stressed because of his present situation having multiple problems. And his wife Molly is pregnent and having diabetes wich can affect child ,she has also suffered from depression and fears that it can affect her again post natal. Their elder son Eric is suffering from autism (limited social interaction) and the youger one having a slight hearing disability. Molly's father having Dementia (age factor).
3.Molly having fear of post natal depression and diabetes 2 (biological factor), to get rid of this psychological problem,she should consult a psychologist to avoid it happening often. Proper medical care need to control diabetes to deliver healthy child.
James should try to quit his smoking and drinking habits as continuing it may worsen his present situation and can also effect his children and wife. ( Bio psychosocial behaviour)
Eric situation may have occured because of the kind of parental care he is getting. His mother was busy and have also suffered depression and also father stays away from home. The reason he has stopped interacting with the society and also confined himself. He needs proper mental and psycho social care. ( psycho social behaviour).
Sebastian is having mild otitis media (bilogical factor), he doesnt need any medical surgeries and treatments but needs proper parental care and guidance and routine checkup to keep a tab on his hearing issue.
