Question

Compare the voltage at A vs. B for each part.

__ Part (a)       A. Vb > Va
__ Part (b)       B. Va > Vb
__ part (c)       C. Not enough info to tell
__ part (d)       D. Va = Vb
__ part (e)
__ part (f)

The more explanation the better. Thanks!

Explanation / Answer

In (a) part flux is increasing in the loop hence current in the loop will be anticlockwise as loop will try to oppose the increase in flux So Va > Vb

In (b) Va=Vb as the loop is in the plane of magnet . So no flux is associated with the loop. So no current flow

In (c)  part flux is decreasing in the loop hence current in the loop will be clockwise as loop will try to oppose the decrease in flux So Va < Vb

In (d) we cannot tell as the flux is sometimes increasing sometimes decreasing due to rotation of the magnet

In (e) flux decreases as area decreases. So current will be anticlockwise. So Va> Vb

In (f) we cannot tell as the flux is sometimes increasing sometimes decreasing. sometimes current will be clockwise sometimes anticlockwise
