part a: the area of the pupil of the eye is ?r2 = ? * (2.5 * 10-3m)2 = 1.96 * 10-5 m2

the area of a 2.4 m sphere is 4?r2 = 4? * (2.4 m)2 = 72.38 m2

So the eye intercepts 2.71 * 10-7 of the light from the bulb. The 140 W bulb at 5% efficiency puts out 7 W of light.
