Question
Electric fields, on the other hand, start on positive charges and end on negative charges. While field lines are pictured as coming out of a north pole and entering a south pole they neither originate on the north pole or end on the south pole. They connect in between. So if you had a bar magnet with a north pole on one end and a south pole on the other, why not just saw off the south pole? Also what's this stuff about conservative fields anyway?
Please keep it short and simple and please no copy and paste.
Explanation / Answer
Because as soon as you break or saw off the magnet the other end becomes south pole.
You can break it into as many pieces and each time the other end becomes south or north pole depending on which side you are breaking or sawing.
