Question

Will leave 5 star rating to whoever shows the best answer and explanation! Thank you! A patient is having a magnetic resonance imaging scan (an MRI) and has neglected to remove a 7.3 cm diameter metallic bracelet. The resistance of the bracelet is 0.0130 U. The magnetic field within the Mill's solenoid is perpendicular to the opening of her bracelet. While taking the scan, the magnetic field decreases from 1.24 T to 0.47 T in 0.700 seconds. What is the magnitude of the average induced current in the bracelet?

Explanation / Answer

answer is H. 3.54*10^-1

Induced EMF = rate of change of flux

= area*(1.24-0.47) / 0.7

area = pi*0.073^2/4 = 4.1854*10^-3

so

= 4.1854*10^-3*(1.24-0.47) / 0.7

So current = ENF/resistance = 0.0460/0.0130 A = 3.54*10^-1 A
