Question
Please help me with those two questions regarding projectile motion. I'm tearing my head out and can't think of a way to solve this. Please ignore my attempts it they may be wrong. Thank you sooooo much! Find the initial speed of a projectile if after being launched horizontally 2.0 meters above the floor landed at a horizontal distance of 3.0 meters from the launcher. You must show a simple sketch and show all your work in order to receive credit for this question. If a projectile is launched at an angle of 40.0 degrees above the horizontal how long will it take to reach the top of a bucket that is 20.0 cm tall (assume the bucket is placed on the floor). Assume the initial height of the ball is 2.0 meters above the floor and that the initial speed of the ball is 5.0 m/s. Again show all your work including a sketch. Please help me with those two questions regarding projectile motion. I'm tearing my head out and can't think of a way to solve this. Please ignore my attempts it they may be wrong.Explanation / Answer
H = Voy^2/2g====> Voy^2 = 2gH = 2*10*2 = 40
R = Voy*Vox*2/g=========> Voy*Vox = Rg/2 = 3*10/2 = 15
Vox = 15/voy
Vox^2 = 15*15/40 = 5.625
Vo = sqrt(Vox^2 + Voy^2) = 6.75
