Cancer is becoming a very common type of disease. Cancer has the ability to start anywhere in the human body, this occurs when the body cells begin to divide without stopping and continue to spread into the surrounding tissues. In the human body, the cells grow and divide to form new cells as needed. When cells start to grow old they die and new cells take their place. Unfortunately, with cancer the old cells continue to survive when they should die, and the body starts to form new cells when they are not needed. The formation of extra cells can divide without stopping and form tumors.

The cancer that I had the greatest interest is Leukemia because one of my friends from high school had Leukemia and she would go to the doctor weekly for blood dialysis. Leukemia is a blood-forming tissue of the bone marrow. With Leukemia, there is no formation of solid tumors, but there is formation of large number of abnormal white blood cells that build up in the bone marrow and blood, and crowed out normal blood cells. There are four types of Leukemia, which depends on the type of blood cells that becomes cancerous. Leukemia usually occurs in individuals who are older than 55 years, but it is also the most common type of cancer in children younger than 15 years. The treatment for Leukemia depends on how chronic or acute it is. Chronic leukemia is a very slow growing cancer and gets worse slowly with time. With acute leukemia, this is the fastest growing cancer and gets worse quickly. Leukemia can be prevented by avoiding high doses of radiation, exposure to chemical benzene, smoking, and other types of chemotherapy.

Explanation / Answer

The last line needs editing; Leukemia can be prevented by avoiding high doses of radiation, exposure to chemical benzene, smoking, and other types of chemicals that can cause cancer; called carcinogens like; Benzene and Formaldehyde.

Note the word chemotherapy. Should not be used here as chemotherapy.is a type of treatment not cause of cancer.
