Explanation / Answer

Parathyroid gland controls serum calcium level. Usually a higher level of calcium leads decreased parathyroid hormone levels. But in the above mentioned case the serum calcium and parathyroid hormone levels are elevated which almost confirm the presence of one or more parathyroid gland tumors. Usually hyperparathyroidism is undiagnosed for long as it doesn't show any symptoms in early phase.

Other diagnostic measures include low vitamin D level that is below 20mg/ dl and presence of kidney stones.
