What is the maximum height, relative to the seat, that Santa will reach? [7.10m] b. What is his time of flight to the chimney? [1.68s] c. How far is the chimney away? [15.5m] d. One day as they are travelling at 80.0 km/h across an open field, Santa accidentally triggers the seat and is launched airborne. He measures his time of flight to be 2.50 s. How far does he travel horizontally? [78.5m]
I understand everything else, I dont understand part D. I thought i would calculate the relative velocity of the launcher as they were traveling at 80km/h but Im not getting the correct answer.

d)speed of santa=80 km/hr = 22.22 m/s
so the time of flight in a projectile motion is given by t=2*u*sin(x)/g
but t=2.5 s, u=22.22 m/s.so,
2.5=2*22.22*y/9.81
or y=0.55
or sin(x)=0.55
or x=33.36 degrees
now the range od flight =u^2*sin(2*x)/g
=22.22^2 * sin(2*33.36)/9.81
=22.22^2*0.918/9.81
=46.2 m
