1. Organising speech - I think it's really important to organise one's speech before it's delivered. The organisation lay in different layers such as, topic, audience, time duration etc. Earlier I used to go there, tremble infront of others because I didn't have any notes but only mental preparation. Later I understood that organising the speech is really important. I started creating mind-maps to organise my ideas and referred to it when I forgot something. This also improved my confidence level.
2. Yes, I started using examples with factors to hold the attention. When I started preparing the mind-maps, I placed one example per branch but didn't use factors. But later I started using examples with factors. I even threw a quiz before I touched upon the real factors.
3. I used valid sources and illustrations from popular journals and magazines to make sure I am making sense. When I used factors, I also made sure I use statistical representation. Whenever I was presenting a concept, I started to explain it and compared and contrasted with a similar or contrasting concept.
4. My voice, during the initial period was not audible because of fear. Later I gained confidence by preparing the topics with relevant supporting ideas. Learning about voice modulation, the use of intonations, sentence and word stress helped me a lot in improving my voice. It also helped me to hold my audience' attention.
5. Earlier, I used to fold my hands or put a hand in my pant pocket or even held the podium or mic very tightly for support but that was very tense and I couldn't use any body language. Later I decided to get a collar mic and started walking side to side as I presented. I also looked at the audience and made enough gestures and maintained a posture that ensured my assertiveness.
6. I think I have improved in the way I present in terms of content and body language and I think I still need to improve in completing the speech on time and encouraging my audience to ask questions.
