Question

I don't quite understand how to do this with 2 coils. Please show a step by step, so I can analyze and understand. Thank you.

A long solenoid (shown at the right) has 1000 turns per meter windings and is 0.4 cm in radius. A second coil of wire is wrapped around the solenoid at the mid-point of its length. The coil has 10 turns and a total resistance of 1.25 omega. The current in the solenoid changes with time as shown in the graph. When viewed from above the current flow is in the clockwise direction.

Explanation / Answer

i can just give you a hint. we know the emf induced = e = - d(phi)/dt which is the rate of change of flux throught the second coil.

now current i = e/r
