Question

Lab Results for series circuit

R1=1kiloohm Current1= .62mA V1=.618

R2=2kiloohm Current 2= .62mA V2=1.24

R3=5kiloohm Current 3= .62mA V3=3.098

Current total = .62mA

Vtotal = 5.00

Now here is my lab question that I dont understand...

1.)In a series circuit the sum of the potential difference across each resistor should be equal to the total potential difference (electromotance) supplied by the battery or power supply. Verify this property of series circuits by using your measured data and calculate the percentage of error.

Explanation / Answer

v1+V2+V3=4.956 v

so it is not equal to 5 v which is actual voltage of battery.

error =5-4.956=0.044 v

percentage error=0.044/5 *100 =0.88 % error
