Respond to each question and sub-question separately, please. 4. In your own words, give a brief but in depth summary of Freud's Theory of Human Nature. How does Freud view the self or selves? Which of the Freudian self is best nourished by capitalism? What would Freud say to the ideas given forth by highly evolved beings, Maslow and a. b. c. Marx? State each separately d. What is/are the cause/s of violence, racism, bigotry, aggression and domination according to Freud and is there a way to end these destructive human expression? Explain.

Explanation / Answer

Freud had the psychoanalytical approach of human theory. His theory comprised of Id, Ego and Super ego. Id is the unconscious part of human being, which consists of child like desires, desire to try out new things, whereas Super ego is the ideal or adult part, which puts limits to all child likes desires, or acts in the societial desirable way. Ego tries to balances between ud and super ego.

Ans a) As per this view, id contains all repressed ideas of sexuality, voilance etc. This repression may come in the format of dreams and other symptoms. He considers the sexual drive the most forceful drive. This drive includes self preservation and other life enhancing eros and self destructive (these are drives for saddism, aggression or death instict

Ans b) I think the self preservation need is the reason to foster the capitalism. There is some kind of hunger associated with this, which drives a man to acheive that particular thing. During this a person also seeks inside to discover waht is his pure organic need

Ans c) Maslow - Freud would agree with Maslows theory, as this theory also focuses on fulfillment of basic desires and then growing towards self. It is similar to the path of Id - Ego (Belongingness and love need in maslow's traingle) and Super ego (concept of self actulization,esteem needs etc). But here maslow doesn't focuses on internal drives, which are realted to physiologocal needs even after the fulfillment. This can be greed i.e id.

Marx - Marx laid a line between poor class and wealthy class. Acc to him wealthy class tries to acquire all control including livelihood of lower and working class. He stated that wealthy and working people have opposite interest. Whereas freud concentrates more on human drives, thoughts, desirec etc. This psycholoanalytic theory can be applied in working as well as wealthy class. A poor person may id of beig a wealthy person. and wealthy person may always behave as per the principles of super ego - which is very pleasing to society.

Ans d) The causes can be the desires i.e. id which has agressive drives, and implementing whichever arouses in id. Here may be the id is not usually comming in between which is trying to balance out between real and desire world. Hence the voilance, strikes, aggression and domination is the prime reason. Domination can also be realted to super ego which is trying to control everything in real world.
