ha omework.sdmesa.edu cmona/195/PS/1959620THQ04S15.doc.pdf homework pdf k.sd force log of acceleration Google Search 2 Calculation Question Graphical Analysis Force as a function of time 1000 z 100 10 100 10 1000 Time in Seconds The graph represents the force acting on a 5 kg object as a function of time. a) Write a general expression for the acceleration of the object as a function of time, with proper units for the proportionality constant. b) How far did the object displace between t 10 and t 30 seconds? c Reade

Explanation / Answer

general expression is product of Force and time is called Impulse

Impulse = Ft = change of momentun

Ft = m(v-u)

F = (mv-mu)/t

as F = ma

here we get a = (v-u)/t      or v = u + at

b. from graph Impulse J = area between t= 10 and t= 30

so

J = area under trianlge + area under rectangle

J    =F t = 90 * 20   + (0.5 * 20 * 70)

F = (1800+ 700)/20

F = 125 N

acceleration a = 125/5 = 25 m/s^2

so

Distance travelled S = 0.5 at^2

S = 0.5 * 25* 20*20

S = 31250 m
