Question
Are north and south magnetic poles similar to or different from + and - electric charges in whether they always come in pairs or if they are found to be isolated?
a)North and south magnetic poles can be found isolated from each other, + and - electric charges only come in pairs and can never be isolated from each other.
b)North and south magnetic poles only come in pairs and can never be found isolated from each other, + and - electric charges also only come in pairs and can never be isolated from each other.
c)North and south magnetic poles only come in pairs and can never be found isolated from each other, + and - electric charges can be isolated from each other.
d)North and south magnetic poles can be found isolated from each other, + and - electric charges also can be isolated from each other.
Explanation / Answer
actually the answer is c. we can isolate electric charges they are referred to as electric monopole. hypothetically north and south poles (positive and negative charges of a dipole or magnetic) can be separated, but this has never been observed, so we say that they only come in pairs and are not isolated
